Inspection & Quality Control
At R&D Machining Inc., accuracy matters — and we back it with proven tools and methods. Our inspection process focuses on verifying critical dimensions and maintaining consistency throughout production using a mix of digital, optical, and manual measurement systems. When tolerances are tight, we have the equipment and experience to ensure precision where it counts.

Mitutoyo Quick Vision Active 404
Our Mitutoyo Quick Vision Active 404 combines optical and contact probing for precise measurement of complex geometries, contours, and surfaces. It’s used for first-article verification, fixture qualification, and detailed inspection of tight-tolerance features.
Highlights:
-
Optical + probe hybrid inspection for complex parts
-
Automated part alignment and measurement routines
-
Sub-thousandth accuracy for detailed feature verification
-
Exports data for dimensional reports and SPC documentation

Height Gauging Systems
We utilize high-accuracy digital height gauges for fast and repeatable dimensional checks.
Our Fowler-Sylvac Hi-Cal 300 and Mitutoyo LH-600E provide reliable height, depth, and feature measurements for part verification, setup validation, and process control.
Highlights:
-
Resolution to 0.00005" (0.001 mm)
-
Fully digital measurement with high repeatability
-
Used for critical dimensions and setup checks

Manual Measurement Tools
Not every job requires a CMM — but every part deserves attention to detail. Our machinists and inspectors use a full range of manual precision tools for in-process and final checks.
Equipment Includes:
-
Mitutoyo and Starrett micrometers (0–6")
-
Digital and dial calipers
-
Bore gauges and telescoping gauges
-
Pin gauges and thread measurement tools
-
Surface plate and height master references
